At tech our year 8 students made sushi. we first prepared our chicken and added mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce and salt then we mashed up our rice with a spatula so it was not all clumped together. When using the rice you have to dip your hands into some water so when you use the rice it's not sticking on your hands. Next, we proceeded to add our ingredients onto our nori sheets which is the outside for our sushi we spread out the rice so it would fold up nicely. we hand-rolled up our sushi with a bamboo mat. After we rolled it up you add water to the end of the sushi so it can stay stuck on and not fall apart. The end result was either a failure or a success for a first try. At the end we all got to try our sushi with some soy sauce and sit down in the kitchen.

Art Colouring Book
This morning we tried one of this year’s Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colours by mixing colours from the original palette with pop colours. This allowed us to recolours famous painting or images of landmarks around the world. I likes how I could combine different types of colours and make it look different then what I made before.

Why is it important to use our PBS CARE Values?
LI: To write an explanation using TEEL Paragraphs
This week for writing Sakina, Haylee, Matthew, and I worked together to create an explanation about why it's important to use our PBS C.A.R.E values. TEEL stands for topic sentence, example or evidence, explain and link ideas. We put together our idea’s and added some technical words in the making. This task was to help us revise on writing explanations as next week is assessment week so we did this collaborative challenge to remind ourselves what is needed when we write explanations. Something I found interesting is how we were able to use more technical words using TEEL.

New Zealand History
This week for Maori Language week Haylee, Victoria, Florence and I created a DLO about the history of New Zealand, some interesting facts, and we chose an example of a Whakatauki to share through a screencastify. In this DLO we have included all about the history of Maori Language Week and where it began. A Whakatauki is the Māori proverb or poetic and metaphorical expressions that reflects on thoughts, advice or values from past generations. We’ve enjoyed working collaboratively on this activity as we were all able to gain a better understanding of the Maori language and the history of their culture.
Exploring Places around New Zealand
This week for Maori Language week, we created multiple DLO's, to teach others different information about Maori. Haylee, Sakina and I worked collaboratively to complete this activity. In our DLO, we included different places in New Zealand, with the meaning and what we found interesting. A place around New Zealand I found the most interesting, was Waitanga, meaning weeping water or noisy. I really enjoyed doing this activity.
