Elections

If I was Prime Minister I would Lower the prices of houses and rent because some people can't afford it. I would also create more shelters for the homeless, so they have food, clothing, and somewhere to stay. This week we filled out a google doc to help us figure out which party, we would vote for. I would vote for Labour.

Making connections with problem solving

LI: To explore problem solving,

Today for inquiry we did Tangrams. Tangrams are ancient Chinese puzzles that were invented in China around the 19th century. We used A4 paper and a pair of scissors to make different shapes. LS1 was invited up to our class in the second block to do this as well. We were given a picture of shapes and was shown different examples of animals we could use such as cats, dogs, horses, fish, birds, and many more. This learning was about problem solving and following instructions. Everyone helped each other with this activity and collaborated.

Optical Illusions

LI: To explore optical illusions.

This week, Mr Johnston came to LS2 and taught us about optical illusions. An optical illusion is something that tricks your eyes, making an object look different. Mr Johnston gave us an optical illusion activity, where we drew a fish and a fishbowl onto two different pieces of paper. Then we created a DLO, explaining what optical illusions are, how it works and an explanation of the activity Mr Johnston gave us. I really enjoyed learning about optical illusions.

Early Moari Enterprise

Mao-ri were the first to ex-change i-tems. Mao-ri tra-ded with ha-pu and iwi. They al-so cr-ea-ted mar-kets of food. Wha-nau would al-so make kai-moa-na. Mao-ri star-ted ex-chan-ging years ago.

This week for inquiry we were learning about early Maori enterprise and economics. In small groups our task was to write a summary of our learning in five sentences. After we had done that we had a challenge to make each of the five sentences have exactly 10 syllables. That part was hard because you had to try and find words that fitted in with the number of syllables, but it was really fun too.
